I have to ask, about the Spidey/Hope Summers page - isn't the flow of action going from left-to-right? To me it looks like they're coming in off the left of the page, & when I saw Hope's original pose, I assumed it was a "knees first because we're breaking through a glass window" type pose. It's horribly contorted, yes, but it reminded me of a baseball player sliding in, where the legs are pointing one way and raised protectively, while the torso is actually twisted the other way, looking ahead.
I’ve been trying to see it that way due to the hair and cape, and the body language is actually not working for that kind of motion (also Hope is the girl with the Phoenix/Dragon on her chest, the girl in front of Spidey is someone else). If it was a foot first lunge, the feet should be leading, and the firing of pistols would be secondary (if not removed entirely) because of the recoil of the weapons. The torso should then be angled back instead of straight up. At this moment her body is in no way angled towards the firing of the weapons, not the chest, not the hips, not even the legs. Everything is pointing away except for the guns. If she were firing and going left to right, I think the action would read better with the upper body leading and the legs propelling her forward, thus going towards the back.
I’m sorry, thinking about this pose going forward only brings Super Mario Bros jumping sound effect noises to my mind and a fixed pixelized image of the pose moving sideways in video game arcs. My brain is silly sometimes.
Like I said in the original post, I chose to fix the pose one way, and there are a lot of different ways that pose could be fixed. Some of them involve jumping TOWARDS the target (on the offensive) rather than away (defensive). And I see this pose as defensive. Hope this clears up a few things!
